Chelsea’s £50k p/w Summer Target Expected To Move

Chelsea's reported summer target Alexis Mac Allister is expected to leave Brighton & Hove Albion over the coming months in search of a move to a top side.

Will Mac Allister move in the summer?

The Argentine has enjoyed the season of his career this term with impressive performances for the Seagulls nothing in comparison to his World Cup triumph with Argentina.

It certainly has been a season which the 24-year-old will not forget having netted eight goals and provided one assist in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

But his efforts on the international stage are what will see him receive his biggest plaudits having played a massive role in Argentina's World Cup campaign.

The Brighton man was not there simply to make up the numbers and started in all of their games following their defeat in the opener against Saudi Arabia (via Transfermarkt).

Having scored and even provided an assist in the final, it is believed the £50k-per-week ace has attracted interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs.

Indeed, the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool have both been credited with interest ahead of the summer as they look to bolster their squads for the 2023/24 campaign.

And speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the expectation is for the midfielder to leave the south coast with a move to a top club on his radar:

(19:00) "I can tell you some things. The expectation is for both, [Moises] Caicedo and Mac Allister to get a top club move in the summer, then we have to see how the negotiation will go."

"For Mac Allister there is a lot of interest it's not just Liverpool. There are many clubs monitoring him. At the moment, there is still nothing advanced. So it's just Mac Allister's side speaking to clubs to understand what's the concrete interest as his father mentioned a few weeks ago, they will take their time so nothing is imminent."

Should Mac Allister join Chelsea?

The Blues have spent big this season and a lot of the money has gone on attacking options with a number of big-money players coming through the doors.

The likes of Joao Felix has joined the Londoners on loan until the end of the season, however, there is a belief that he could be signed permanently over the summer.

Mac Allister can play across a number of positions with central midfield and attacking midfield the two main positions he's been used as at Brighton this season (via Transfermarkt).

Alexis Mac Allister celebrates after scoring for Brighton & Hove albion in the Premier League.

However, with the likes of Enzo Fernandez having also signed for big money this season and reports suggesting Chelsea could make a move for the likes of Moises Caicedo, you have to question where he could potentially fit in.

Perhaps a move for the Argentine could be a possibility if Chelsea fail to land Felix permanently over the summer, but perhaps they should be prioritising the Brighton man.

Mac Allister has been hailed as "magic" earlier in the season, and he has certainly impressed having provided a much higher successful take-on rate to Felix this season (via FBref).

Todd Boehly has shown no hesitation in splashing out on players he likes, however, perhaps Mac Allister could find more certain game time elsewhere over the summer.

Shocking Play From £65k-p/w West Ham Man

BBC host Mark Schwarzer has noted the "very poor" play from Tomas Soucek had West Ham United's rivals "hugging and kissing" on the sidelines.

What's the latest on Tomas Soucek and West Ham?

The Hammers travelled away from home for the Saturday lunchtime event in the Premier League as they took on Crystal Palace.

A few weeks ago, this looked like it could be a vital clash in terms of the current relegation battle but with both sides picking up form, it didn't feel quite so important ahead of kick-off.

Even so, both sets of players seemed to be really up for it as five goals in the first half made for a thrilling opening 45 minutes.

Soucek actually opened the scoring but two goals in quick succession saw the Eagles fight back to lead 2-1. Just ten minutes later, the Czech midfielder was involved again – this time for all the wrong reasons.

Indeed, he dallied on the ball and was robbed by Jeffrey Schlupp, who then raced away from the £65k-per-week man and then finished coolly to make it 3-1.

This terrible bit of play from the West Ham midfielder must have left David Moyes infuriated, but it seems the Palace coaches couldn't believe their luck.

Indeed, when talking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Schwarzer noted that Roy Hodgson's assistants Ray Lewington and Dean Kiely were "jumping up and down" in delight.

He said (via BBC Sport): "Very poor from Tomas Soucek. I was watching the Crystal Palace bench after that goal. Ray Lewington was jumping up and down. He and Dean Kiely were hugging and kissing!"

Will West Ham sell Soucek?

Interestingly enough, there were reports this week about how Soucek had been due to have contract talks earlier this season but they'd been put off until the summer.

This could suggest that West Ham and Moyes aren't necessarily keen on keeping the 28-year-old around for much longer – although he has played regularly this term, with over 40 outings across all competitions.

Tomas Soucek

If he is playing for his future, however, this "poor" incident was hardly the best display of his talents. In fairness to Soucek, he had already scored, and just five minutes later, he managed to provide an assist as Michail Antonio's made it 3-2 before half-time.

Even so, if you do something so bad it literally has the opponents "hugging and kissing", it's safe to say you've probably left your own manager absolutely furious.

Arsenal Could Sign £130k-p/w ‘Maverick’ To Ditch Pepe

Arsenal's pursuit of Nicolas Pepe was a drawn-out process, as it was clear that Unai Emery was after another target.

The Spaniard sought a tricky winger to help propel his revolution forward, and whilst he wanted Premier League assurances, those above him demanded a more unknown commodity.

This battle waged on throughout the summer of 2019 before an astronomical £72m fee was agreed, tempting the Ivorian to the Emirates. Many had struggled to live up to such a price tag before, but this was made especially hard for an unproven 24-year-old who had enjoyed only his first truly outstanding season, scoring 22 and assisting 11 from out wide for Lille.

The unpredictability of such a move made for both intrigue and worry, and it seems that given how his career has panned out, the latter was a far more appropriate response. The now-27-year-old has only mustered 27 goals across his 112 appearances since moving.

Perhaps had Emery acquired the man he wanted in Wilfried Zaha, things might have gone differently for his tenure which ended in his November sacking of that same year.

nicolas-pepe-arsenal-transfer-wilfried-zaha

The 51-year-old claimed in 2020: "We signed Pepe. I favoured someone who knew the league and wouldn’t need to adapt. Zaha won games on his own: Tottenham, Manchester City, us. Incredible performances. I told them: ‘This is the player I know and want.’

"I met Zaha and he wanted to come. The club decided Pepe was one for the future. I said: ‘Yes, but we need to win now and this lad wins games.’ He beat us on his own."

Although in a completely roundabout way, the 30-year-old could now be set for a move to north London, as it was reported on Wednesday that the Gunners are one of many attentive to his dwindling contract situation.

Will Arsenal sign Wilfried Zaha?

With his £130k-per-week deal set to expire this summer, and no sign of a new contract for the Crystal Palace favourite, it seems like a move that is too good to be true for Edu and Mikel Arteta.

Finally, he could right the wrongs of his predecessor, adding that magic quality and experience to his already potent front line.

Zaha remains the Eagles' all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 67 strikes, and across his numerous years at Selhurst Park has accumulated 89 goals and 76 assists from 455 games.

However, it is the forward's unprecedented ability to take games by the scruff of the neck that marks him out as a truly phenomenal talent, with former boss Alan Pardew having branded him one of his "maverick players" back in 2015.

With a terrifying burst of speed and feet that few defenders can contain, this season has admittedly been a tough one for the Ivory Coast international.

Crystal Palace wingerWilfried Zaha

However, just last season the ageing trickster notched 14 league goals whilst recording 2.3 successful dribbles and 1.4 key passes per game, via Sofascore. He combines an uncanny ability to beat a man with the quality to then find a teammate; a skill that is truly invaluable.

Neil Warnock even took to talkSPORT to laud Zaha in 2020, claiming: "His feet are electric. I think he's matured a bit. I think he's a complete player now."

To bring someone of this calibre to Arsenal for free would be sensational business, whilst also finally exorcising the failures of choosing Pepe over him all those years ago.

Coincidentally, it could be the final straw in ditching the former Lille man too, who is once again struggling to reignite his career during his six-goal loan spell back in France.

Manchester United Planning Bid For "World-Class" £100m Star

Manchester United are planning to bid for Harry Kane this summer, having now launched initial moves to sign the striker, according to a recent report from the Telegraph.

What's the latest Man United transfer news?

Man United legend Gary Neville recently claimed Erik ten Hag will need to strengthen a number of areas this summer, with a new goalkeeper, right-back, centre-back and striker all needed, and they are already looking at a number of different options.

The Red Devils have sent a scout to watch FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, indicating David De Gea could be replaced, while they are all in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who could cost between £40m – £50m.

In terms of centre-backs, Axel Disasi and Kim Min-jae could be targeted, while United are said to have made an approach for Rasmus Hojlund to bolster their attack, with Victor Osimhen also of interest.

According to a report from the Telegraph, Man United have now started work on signing Kane, having begun their due diligence on how to handle negotiations with Daniel Levy, the Tottenham Hotspur chairman.

The Red Devils plan to bid for Kane, who could cost Premier League sides as much as £100m, as there is now little chance of the striker signing a new contract to commit his future to Spurs this summer.

Bayern Munich are also in the race for the England captain, however United hold a key advantage as he would rather stay in England, in order to continue to chase Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record.

Should Man United sign Harry Kane?

If the 29-year-old decides he wants to leave Spurs this summer, Ten Hag should undoubtedly make him his priority summer signing, as he is capable of taking United to the next level.

With 207 Premier League goals to his name, the Englishman is well on course to break Shearer's record of 260, and he has been hailed as "world-class" by teammate Eric Dier.

United have taken massive strides this season, having already won the EFL Cup, while recently booking their place in the FA Cup final, but they are lacking in the striker department, with Anthony Martial scoring just four league goals this season, having struggled with injuries.

As such, a new forward will undoubtedly be required this summer, and there is no better option than Kane, given that he has already proven himself as a top Premier League striker over a number of seasons.

Celtic’s "Wonderful" £12k-p/w Dynamo Shone vs Well

Celtic moved one small step closer to securing a second successive league title after recording a 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell on Saturday afternoon, with the Old Firm giants now just two wins away from being crowned as champions.

While Ange Postecoglou's men may be rather frustrated to have dropped two points after winning their previous 12 Scottish Premiership games, that stalemate has ensured that the Hoops have remarkably still only lost once in the top flight all season.

It had initially looked set to be yet another routine victory for the Glasgow side as long-serving captain Callum McGregor netted early on through a deflected, long-range effort, only for Well's main marksman, Kevin van Veen, to equalise just after the break with his 20th Scottish Premiership goal of the season.

Despite the overall disappointment of enduring a rare home outing without a win, one standout figure was undoubtedly that of goalscorer, McGregor, with the 29-year-old having brought 'such a calmness to the team', as per Glasgow Live's Alan Galindo.

The Scotland international – who led the way with his 8.3 match rating, as per Sofascore – notably enjoyed a stunning pass accuracy rate of 95% from his 125 touches as a marker of his innate composure on the ball, having also been an effective presence defensively after winning seven of his 11 total duels.

The influential skipper wasn't alone in having been a shining light for Postecoglou's side, however, with fellow midfielder Matt O'Riley having also shown why he is a simply 'sublime footballer', as per Celtic Way's Tony Haggerty.

How did O'Riley perform against Motherwell?

Fresh from bagging a brace in the thumping win over Kilmarnock last weekend, the "wonderful" talent – as previously hailed by Ross County boss Malky Mackay – was again a real 'joy to watch', as per Haggerty, having run the show in his playmaking berth.

Celtic's Matt O'Riley

The Denmark U21 international was a real thorn in the side of the opposition due to his relentless creative threat, having provided a stellar haul of five key passes from his 108 touches – by far the most of any player for either side.

Hailed as 'the man in form' by Galindo, the 22-year-old also completed all three of his attempted dribbles and created two big chances, notably sliding in Kyogo Furuhashi on the hour mark.

Despite losing possession on 35 occasions, the £12k-per-week dynamo also offered real quality in a defensive sense after winning seven ground duels in his 79-minute outing, with it no surprise to see the former MK Dons man record an impressive 7.9 match rating, as per Sofascore – second only to that of McGregor.

While such an impactful display could not ultimately lead the Bhoys to victory – with January arrival Oh Hyeon-gyu missing a gilt-edged chance late on – it will be encouraging to see O'Riley looking back to his best, ahead of next week's Scottish Cup, semi-final showdown with Rangers.

50 y/o Linked As Next West Ham Manager

Insider ExWHUEmployee has revealed that Paulo Fonseca is potentially a candidate to replace David Moyes at West Ham United should the 59-year-old leave this summer.

What are the latest West Ham manager rumours?

It's been a rather odd season for the Hammers as they've battled without particularly impressing in the Premier League and are still just about in danger of being relegated.

At the same time, the same set of players could be on the verge of glory as they've made it all the way to a European semi-final and play AZ Alkmaar this week as they look to go all the way in the Europa Conference League.

With that being the case, there is a lingering uncertainty around the position of Moyes and it seems as though the club are certainly making some moves behind the scenes already should they decide to part ways with the current manager at the end of the season.

Indeed, while talking recently on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex revealed that current Lille boss Fonseca is one man who appears to be on the Iron's radar.

He explained (8:34): "There has been talks that we really like Paulo Fonseca, who is the manager, Portuguese manager, of Lille.

"He used to manage Roma before that he's someone that apparently we have shown an interest in potentially being a candidate should Moyes go."

Would Fonseca be a good fit at West Ham?

The 50-year-old manager has had a reasonably good campaign in Ligue 1, and currently has Lille fifth in the division. This is his first season managing the French club and with 17 wins, eight draws and eight losses so far, he has earned an average of 1.79 points per game.

When you compare that with what Moyes has done across 49 outings in total so far, the Scottish manager has won 22 games, drawn eight but worrying lost a notable 19 fixtures – for a points average of 1.51 per game.

West Ham bossDavid Moyes

With that being the case, it's easy to see why Fonseca could be viewed as a potential upgrade. Interestingly enough, while he hasn't worked in the Premier League before, the former Roma manager was very close to joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021.

Seeing as things didn't go well for Nuno Espirito Santo or Antonio Conte, perhaps Spurs may wish they'd opted for Fonseca instead.

Their error in judgement could be of benefit to West Ham though and it will be interesting to see if they do want to change managers this summer and if they view the 50-year-old as an ideal replacement for Moyes.

Key Leeds United Figure Shown Door Over Managerial Decision

Leeds United have given Victor Orta the boot – and the reason for his departure has been revealed via Mail Online.

What’s the latest on Leeds United’s managerial situation?

With the Whites struggling to get going in the Premier League this campaign, the club’s hierarchy have decided to part ways with Orta via mutual decision and Gracia is next on the hitlist.

The side are currently sat in 17th place and face dropping out of the division and into the Championship unless someone can turn their fortunes around. Leeds brought in Gracia back in February in the hope that he would pick up some much-needed points, but the boss has instead managed just three wins from 12 outings.

They’re only out of the bottom three via goal difference – and if results go against them, they could soon find themselves dragged into the relegation spots.

Now, Whites officials have decided to dispose of Orta via mutual agreement, with Gracia set to follow suit. He looks likely to be replaced by Sam Allardyce in a desperate bid to gain Premier League survival. The former Everton boss has been out of work since leaving West Brom in 2021 but has previous for keeping teams in the top flight.

Following his exit, the reason for Orta’s departure has been revealed, with Mail Online reporting that it was a disagreement over the future of Gracia that led to him leaving. Orta was in favour of keeping the Spaniard at the helm whereas Andrea Radrizzani felt it was time to get rid of the boss.

It meant that rather than side with his Director of Football, the club’s owner has seemingly decided to part ways with both. Now, it looks like it will be a completely fresh start for Leeds when their new manager takes over.

Is Allardyce the right call as Leeds United manager?

With reports stating that Sam Allardyce will be unveiled as the next Whites boss following Orta and Gracia leaving, many supporters will likely be left questioning the decision.

The call from Radrizzani does make some sense though. Allardyce has shown his mettle at dragging teams away from the dropzone and right now what the club need is that kind of ‘firefighter’ boss at the helm. He managed 1.16 points per match when in charge of Sunderland in leading them away from the relegation places and he did likewise with Crystal Palace, managing an even better rate of 1.25 ppm (via Transfermarkt). He’s also previously led Everton into the top ten, showing that the manager has plenty of experience in getting results from a lower ranked team in the Premier League.

He might not be a long-term option for them, but the priority now is to ensure they retain their Premier League status – and Allardyce could be the man to help Leeds to do just that.

Liverpool Suffer Potential Big Transfer Blow

Liverpool could now miss out on the signing of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount this summer, according to a new transfer update.

Is Mount leaving Chelsea?

The future of the Englishman has been a major talking point of late, with plenty of speculation surrounding whether we will remain at Stamford Bridge or not. He has had a disappointing season by his high standards, only scoring three goals in 35 appearances in all competitions, and he is yet to agree a new deal.

Mount has been continually linked with a summer move to Liverpool instead, with the Reds badly in need of making a number of new signings in the middle of the park. He appears to be someone who Jurgen Klopp admires and believes would strengthen that area of the pitch at Anfield, and reports have suggested that a transfer is likely.

The 24-year-old has been at Chelsea since childhood, however, and it looks as though his exit is still far from a given, following a new update that has emerged.

Premier League, Liverpool, Liverpool news, Liverpool latest news, Liverpool update, Liverpool transfers, Liverpool transfer news, LFC news, LFC latest news, LFC update, LFC transfers, LFC transfer news, Mason Mount, Jurgen Klopp, FSG, Anfield

Will Liverpool miss out on Mount?

According to Football Insider, there is now "growing within Chelsea that Mason Mount will snub interest from Liverpool and sign a new long-term contract". The report goes on to say that the "imminent appointment of Mauricio Pochettino has given hope to those inside Stamford Bridge that Mount will stay put".

The Blues have "promised Mount more first-team action and a key role in the side as part of his contract negotiations", which they hope will encourage him to extend his stay at west London.

This is a clear blow for Liverpool, with Mount someone who could be such an effective addition to the midfield this summer, even though his 2022/23 season has been largely underwhelming. He has the tactical nous to thrive under Klopp – Jose Mourinho has lauded him for being "very, very intelligent" in the past – while 70 goal contributions (33 goals and 37 assists) for Chelsea show that he could provide more end product than the Reds' current options.

It does feel as though Mount would ultimately prefer to stay at Chelsea, however, as long as he is offered an acceptable contract, so Liverpool may need to start looking elsewhere for an alternative. Someone like Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister could be an ideal choice, for example, having scored eight times in the Premier League this season, as well as averaged 2.1 tackles per game.
