A natural: Man City fans heap praise on Phil Foden after first Premier League start

[ad_pod ]

Manchester City fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Phil Foden, after the attacking midfielder made his first Premier League start in the 2-0 win over Cardiff on Wednesday evening.

The teenage prospect had only previously featured for the Cityzens in the cup competitions from the first whistle, but he was handed his first league start by Pep Guardiola against the Bluebirds and he performed excellently.

442oons have charted the entire career of Man City’s main man Sergio Aguero through song in the hilarious video below…

Despite being just 18 years of age, Foden slotted in seamlessly in an attack littered with world-class talent, and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after a number of chances went begging – he hit the post with a well-taken second half effort.

The City academy graduate had five shots on Neil Etheridge’s goal, and also made three key passes on a night where he took a big step in his development.

Let’s see what the City fans on Twitter have been saying about the teenager’s performance…

Signing Andre Gomes is the first thing Everton must do this summer

Everton have finally reached their capabilities under Marco Silva and those fans are loving it. Seventh place looks to again be a real possibility and optimism has quickly restored itself around Goodison Park. Thank the high heavens for that, right?

With a string of fine results, Everton have re-established themselves as European contenders, something that will please Marco Silva after a troubling start to his tenure. Indeed, you Everton fans can safely admit that they did have concerns about the Portuguese boss but finally having turned things around, Silva must continue to be entrusted by all.

Obviously, this upcoming transfer window is yet again another opportunity for Everton to try and strengthen their side but their first bit of business may be slightly easier than some. Despite a number of teams now pledging their interest, Everton’s first job this summer is to sign Andre Gomes on a permanent deal, after he’s produced a number of show-stopping performances this season.

Gomes, (who is valued at £25.2 million on Transfermarkt) has shown exactly why Barcelona invested so heavily in him, with so many classy performances in the heart of midfield.

At times, the 25-year-old looks miles ahead of his opponents as he effortlessly strolls around the pitch like it’s his own.

That kind of player is extremely hard to find and Everton must do everything to try and keep hold of him – amid reported interest over the course of the campaign – now they’ve seen how good their midfield could be.

Marco Silva – like you supporters reading this – is surely very keen on making his stay permanent and although Barcelona can now drive up the price because of his performances, Everton must consider who would prove to be better value for money.

Now in his prime years, enjoying some terrific football and looking at home in the blue of Everton, it definitely makes sense that he remains at Goodison Park, right?

Jordan Veretout’s agent was in the stands at Arsenal on Thursday night

Arsenal must head into the transfer window this summer with a priority of adding creativity to their midfield. With Aaron Ramsey set to leave the club, his recent performances should have only highlighted Unai Emery’s need for a replacement.

And, it appears there could be some good news on the horizon for the Gunners as one of their rumoured target’s agent was spotted in attendance during their Europa League win against Napoli.

What’s the News?

Calciomercato are claiming that Jordan Veretout’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, was in the stands on Thursday night.

It is suggested that he could have been there to discuss the possibility of a deal for his client, who is currently excelling for Fiorentina after a rather nightmarish campaign with Aston Villa earlier in his career.

However, Arsenal do not seem to be the only side thought to be interested in the midfielder, with Napoli also believed to be keen on the 26-year-old.

The Verdict:

News that Guiffredi was in the stands on Thursday night when both clubs were in action against each other could easily appear to suggest that a move to either of the sides could be on the cards in the summer.

And, Emery and Arsenal must look to beat Napoli to his signature. Veretout has shown how good of a footballer he can be and his nightmare spell in England with Aston Villa should only be put down as a blip.

With Aaron Ramsey set to depart in the summer, the Frenchman, who is valued at £22.5million (Transfermarkt) could be an ideal replacement and could make life after the Wales international rather comfortable for the Gunners.

The 26-year-old has shown that he is more than capable in front of goal, with five strikes to his name, whilst he has also proved he has the vision and creativity that has been desperately lacking for Arsenal in the middle of the field as he has provided his team-mates with three assists in Serie A.

A threat from set-pieces, he is also hugely versatile and could offer Emery plenty of different options in the midfield, whether that be more defensively or in the attacking third of the pitch.

Arsenal fans, would you be happy to see Veretout at the Emirates Stadium next season? Do you think his agent being at the ground is a positive sign? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.

Mark Bright says this Palace moment will have ‘no equal this season’

[ad_pod ]If you asked most Crystal Palace fans what their highlight of the season was, it would undoubtedly be the 3-2 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in December, in which Andros Townsend scored an absolute worldie. The Premier League champions looked to have cleared the danger after Bernardo Silva headed away but former Spurs man Townsend was waiting on the edge of the box to unleash a thunderbolt of a volley that, as it flew into the top corner, gave Ederson no chance. It will undoubtedly be in the conversation for goal of the season but, after Mohamed Salah scored another contender against Chelsea, Palace legend Mark Bright has said the other nominations will be for the sake of formality:

The former striker says that the technique required to hit a volley like that is much more difficult to produce than the aforementioned Salah strike and Anthony Knockaert’s goal against the Eagles, both of which were also left-footed rifles.

There’s some exciting changes happening at Crystal Palace next summer. Find out what in the video below…

With the Selhurst Park outfit having lost both games against their bitter rivals this campaign, Townsend’s beating Knockaert to the award may be one of few things Palace fans can brag about at the end of the season.

Transfer Focus: Leroy Sane eyes shock Manchester City exit

[ad_pod ]It has been claimed by Spanish-speaking media outlet El Chiringuito TV that Germany winger Leroy Sane is eyeing a shock exit from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for this summer.

What’s the word, then?

The 23-year-old is allegedly among seven or eight City players who will seek to leave the club. The other name they revealed to be on the list was Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus although it is not known apart from him and the other aforementioned Citizen who else wants out at the Etihad Stadium.

Sane joined City from FC Schalke 04 in early August 2016 and was an instant hit in Manchester, since making 128 appearances in all competitions and registering 38 goals and 45 assists. He has represented the German national team on 19 occasions and was a shock omission from their FIFA World Cup squad last summer.

Man City must move to avoid total disaster

Without even considering the possible exit of Jesus and whoever else wants to leave, it’s clear that Man City must move to avoid a total disaster – losing Sane.

Both on and off the pitch, the man who scarily still has the prime years of his career ahead of him is one of the Citizens’ and the City Football Group’s most valued commodities.

But just focusing on the German in a footballing sense, he’s a rare talent, a unique mix of speed, flare and born finishing ability that can be deployed in almost every position across the attack.

Who has been the best player in the EPL so far this season? The Pl>ymaker FC squad have their say in the video below…

There can be little doubting that without Sane, in spite of the abundance of world-class players around him, Guardiola’s men wouldn’t be in the position they are now under the Spaniard.

This season has been telling of that as Blue Moon are in pole position to collect back-to-back Premier League titles at the start of the run-in, thanks in huge part to the pace man’s nine goals and 11 assists in 27 Premier League games – even though his place in the starting XI has recently become contentious.

Letting the starlet go would not only hurt the Sky Blues majorly on the field, it could also weaken their reputation and imperious nature in the transfer market. Losing your key players is a sign of a team in decline and with a chance of collecting a remarkable 2018/2019 treble, Man City certainly aren’t that.

Sorry DCL! Everton fans desperate for a marquee striker

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting to their drab draw against Crystal Palace, and there’s only one thing on the minds of the Goodison faithful.

Everton have perhaps become the most confusing and impossible to predict side in the Premier League in recent weeks, putting in some incredible performances sandwiched between some really underwhelming displays.

And after smashing Manchester United 4-0 last weekend, it was perhaps inevitable to follow it up with an absolute snooze-fest, as the Toffees and Eagles mustered a combined three shots on target at Selhurst Park.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

All three of those efforts on target came from the visitors, and Cenk Tosun had a potential goal of the season contender denied, as Vicente Guaita saved the Turkish international’s ambitious back heel.

Marco Silva’s side were by far the better team, but as has happened so often this season they just couldn’t turn their dominance into goals.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a fan favourite due to his work rate, but with just six goals in 34 league outings this term fans are calling for the 22 year-old to be replaced.

Take a look at the Twitter reactions down below, where it’s pretty clear what the number one item on the Toffees’ summer shopping list will be…

Look at him now: Harry Redknapp and Portsmouth

Is there as likeable a manager in English football as Harry Redknapp?

The 72-year-old coach has been in and around the English game for the best part of 50 years after breaking through at West Ham as a player and then taking his first steps into management with AFC Bournemouth in 1983, a club Redknapp would manage for nearly 10 years.

And for Portsmouth fans, Redknapp is a figure who holds a special place at the club for more reasons than one.

Having left the manager role at West Ham after the 2000/01 Premier League season, Redknapp took up the job as Director of Football at Portsmouth, and although there were reports at the time that the coach was to join Leicester City to replace Peter Taylor at the Foxes, the former Hammers boss remained with the club, and it proved to be a pivotal decision.

After poor results towards the end of the 2001/02 season, Redknapp replaced Graham Rix as manager of Portsmouth, and 12 months later the newly appointed Pompey boss guided the south coast club to the English top-flight for the first time in nearly 15 years.

Although Redknapp was able to keep Portsmouth up in their first season back in the Premier League in over a decade, the former Hammers player left the club the following campaign over disagreements with then-owner Milan Mandaric, and his move to Southampton was unsurprisingly an unpopular one with Pompey fans.

Branded a ‘Judas’ by Portsmouth supporters, Redknapp’s time with Southampton was brief after ‘Arry was unable to keep the team in the Premier League as the Saints were relegated to the Championship, and in December 2005, he was back at Pompey where he has his most successful period as a manager.

As well as keeping Portsmouth up in the Premier League in his returning season at the club, Redknapp was able to guide the side to their first piece of domestic silverware in nearly 80 years in the form of the 2008 FA Cup.

It would prove to be his best achievement with the club, as the following season Redknapp was appointed as Tottenham Hotspur manager, a team he would spend four years at and take to the Champions League before joining QPR in 2015, and then Birmingham City in 2017.

Redknapp is currently waiting for his next managerial move, but after winning 2018’s edition of the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, it is likely the iconic manager’s return to football will be delayed for another year or two, and for Portsmouth fans, they remember the veteran coach as the man who brought the club to its glory days.

Portsmouth fans, is Redknapp one of the club’s greatest ever managers? Let us know!

Rattled: Leeds fans loving Mason Bennett’s comments

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans are loving Mason Bennett’s comments despite the fact that he took a swipe at their club.

The Derby striker scored against West Brom last week to set up the playoff clash between the Rams and the Whites. He hasn’t been able to resist the temptation to bring up old scores since then though.

The Midlands club were, of course, victims of Spygate earlier this season. Marcelo Bielsa sent staff to secretly watch Derby’s training sessions before the two sides met at Pride Park, where Leeds would eventually run out 2-0 winners.

This time around Bennett has invited the Yorkshire club to send whoever they want in a defiant message aimed at Bielsa.

The striker’s statement hasn’t had the desired effect though, as many Leeds fans are revelling in the 22-year-old’s comments and claiming that his focus on the upcoming game has been affected by past events.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on Twitter in response to Bennett…

Liverpool: Xavier Mbuyamba can be the next defensive superstar under Jurgen Klopp

When Jurgen Klopp came to Liverpool, the German had a mammoth task of improving a defence that had been one of the leakiest in the top-half of the Premier League, and it’s safe to say he’s turned things around.

Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are just a few of the names that have transformed the Reds into one of the best defensive sides in not just England, but all of Europe, and with the next few years of the back-four secured it will be wise for Klopp to look forward to how he sees this Liverpool defence in the future.

With academy prospect Ki-Jana Hoever highly tipped to one day be a starter for the Reds in the future as a centre-back, Klopp could complete the defensive spine according to recent rumours from Holland.

According to Dutch publication VI, Liverpool are interested in MVV Maastricht youngster Xavier Mbuyamba, who is on the radar of many teams around Europe after an impressive season in the Eerste Divisie, Holland’s second-tier.

The 17-year-old defender, who is valued at £45,000 on Transfermarkt, is tipped for great things, and if Liverpool are able to court the 6’3” centre-back to Merseyside, Klopp will have the future of the Reds defence on lock.

With Mbuyamba and Hoever, Liverpool will have two defenders who not only have the potential to become some of the top centre-backs in world football but also a duo who can learn immensely under Klopp as well as fellow countryman van Dijk.

Liverpool’s approach of securing for the future this summer might be a smart move for Klopp, and if the club can secure Mbuyamba, the Merseyside team will have many successful years to come in the future.

Liverpool fans, could Mbuyamba be a future starting centre-back? Let us know!

Leicester fans react to Tielemans quotes on quality of life in England

[ad_pod ]

Youri Tielemans was a brilliant servant to Leicester in the short amount of time he was at the club. The Belgian midfielder arrived on loan from Monaco in January and was an instant success.

However, he’s now due to return to the Ligue 1 side with his future very much up in the air.

And with that in mind, Tielemans has hinted that the quality of life in England is much better than in Monaco, comparing it to his native country. That was in quotes from TV channel VTM Nieuws, relaid by Leicestershire Live.

Having read the article, Foxes fans were quick to have their say on the 22-year-old, but much of the fan base were split, providing both positive and negative thoughts.

One supporter said the club must buy him at all costs whilst another claimed a permanent move would help Leicester break into the top six.

However, a further fan felt as though they’d miss out on the Belgian, suggesting it would be typical Leicester. One tweeter also said they weren’t convinced that there aren’t similar players out there.

The 5 ft 9 midfielder played in 13 Premier League games after joining, scoring three times and claiming four assists, per WhoScored.

Here’s the best of the reaction.
