O Conselho Deliberativo do São Paulo aprovou, em dezembro do ano passado, a previsão orçamentária do clube para 2023. E no principal item de receitas, a negociação de atletas, ficou estabelecido o valor de R$ 135 milhões como meta a ser cumprida. O problema é que, com o fechamento da primeira janela europeia ’em branco’ para o Tricolor, a ‘correria’ para atingir o número ficou para o período de transferências que se abrirá no próximo dia 3 de julho.

E, segundo palavras do próprio diretor de futebol tricolor, Carlos Belmonte, a tendência é que não haja jogo duro por parte do clube do Morumbi no que tange propostas para eventuais propostas que chegarem da Europa por suas principais revelações.

Muito tem se falado de Beraldo, mas o plano do Tricolor é o de recusar investidas pelo zagueiro de 19 anos, que ganhará aumento nos próximos dias. O plano dos dirigentes é de mantê-lo por mais dois anos pelo menos no plantel. Tempo suficiente para que valorize ainda mais. E, claro, o clube do Morumbi consiga comprar parte dos direitos federativos que ainda pertencem ao XV de Piracicaba, onde ele deu os primeiros passos no futebol.

Aston Villa have had a fairly quiet summer transfer window, signing just one prominent first-team player, Evann Guessand from Nice, who cost around £30m.

They have sold a few players, too, with Jacob Ramsey being the notable exit. The boyhood Villa star moved up north to join Newcastle United.

They were recently on the cusp of losing another midfielder, one of Unai Emery’s key men in the centre of the park. Belgian star Youri Tielemans had interest from Saudi side Al-Ittihad, according to reports, but turned down the offer to remain at Villa Park.

With the transfer window set to slam shut on Monday, Villa could now turn their attention to incomings, as they look to strengthen Emery’s squad.

It will be interesting to see what business the Villans do as the end of the transfer window approaches.

Emery’s side seem to want a new midfielder, with Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United one player who they’re showing interest in signing.

They are said to have joined the race to sign another midfielder with Premier League experience, too.

That’s according to reports in Spain, via Sport Witness, who suggest that the West Midlands side are said to be interested in signing Atletico Madrid and England midfielder Conor Gallagher.

They are thought to have ‘money in the bag’ this summer, and could well send an offer to Diego Simeone’s side ‘in the coming hours’.

However, they will face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace, with the Hammers also showing interest. As for the price, Gallagher could be available for around £34m this summer.

Why Gallagher would be a good signing

Gallagher is a player who has reams of Premier League experience and would have no trouble slotting into the midfield at Villa Park, in that sense.

He has impressed in the Spanish capital for Simone’s side, where his “relentless” nature, as Statman Dave put it, has served him well.

Last term, the 25-year-old, who was born in Epsom, played 50 times for the La Liga giants, mainly operating as a number eight, but also playing as a left midfielder.

He bagged four goals, including one against rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League, and assisted six.

But it is that English top-flight experience which might make him such an appealing option for Emery and Villa.

Gallagher has played 136 times in the Premier League for Chelsea, Palace and West Brom, having loan spells at the latter two. He has 31 goal involvements to his name.

It could well be the case that, if Villa do sign Gallagher this summer, he could become Emery’s new Tielemans.

Of course, it seems like the Belgian will remain at Villa Park this summer, which is key for the club given his importance in Claret and Blue.

Last season, the former Anderlecht star played 50 times, with 36 of those coming in the Premier League and 12 in the Champions League.

He chipped in with five goals and ten assists, often operating as a deep-lying playmaker sitting in front of the back four, but also playing further forward.

Indeed, there are comparisons which can be made between the two players. Gallagher is also a versatile option in midfield, as he showed for Chelsea. The Cobham graduate featured as a number six, a number eight and in attacking midfield for his boyhood club.

There are also similar underlying statistics when looking at numbers from 2022/23, when Tielemans was at Leicester City and Gallagher was plying his trade at Stamford Bridge.

The England international’s impressive passing range was on show, given that he averaged 5.83 progressive passes per 90 minutes, compared to Tielemans’ tally of 6.96 each game.

Emery would surely love to have another version of Tielemans in midfield. Gallagher offers ball progression and threat in the opposition box, as well as tenacity off the ball. Between them, the duo could be a deadly midfield pivot.

A fee of £52m is a huge investment at this stage of the window, but might be a smart move for Villa if they are looking to improve their midfield options.

O dirigente detalhou o estado no qual o clube estava e apontou melhorias feitas até o momento.

–  Mourisco Mar com a piscina furada. As duas quadras externas cobertas estavam completamente esburacadas, sem tabelas e com dezenas de goteiras. O aquecimento da piscina semiolímpica estava quebrado, a nossa tradicional escolinha não estava funcionando, a piscina social se encontrava em mau estado de conservação, sem atendimento da lanchonete e com o piso sujo e cheio de rachaduras. Em seguida, o mandatário ressaltou:

– Estamos ainda hoje debruçados em solucionar esse problema que herdamos. O projeto está pronto e buscamos agora alternativas financeiras para fazer frente a uma reforma milionária – disse.

Além disso, foram exibidas fotos do estado no qual estavam piscinas, quadras e a histórica sede de General Severiano, com infiltrações na parede, piscina esvaziada e suja entre outros problemas. O dirigente valorizou melhorias feitas na sede social.

Além de reformas nas quadras e investimentos em diversos esportes, Durcesio prometeu reabrir a loja do clube.

– A Loja Oficial, abandonada por incompetência e desacertos contratuais, será reinaugurada em até dois meses, recuperada e grandiosa. Graças a um projeto bem estruturado, passará do abandono à rentabilidade, revertendo-se em benefícios para o clube – afirmou.

Durcesio Mello também prometeu um novo museu no casarão clássico da sede social e uma reforma no CT João Saldanha, que não é mais utilizado pelo futebol profissional, abraçando uma nova utilidade. O dirigente assumiu o clube em 4 de janeiro de 2021 e ficará na presidência até o fim de 2024.

“Caros sócios proprietários e amigos botafoguenses!

Passados pouco mais de dois anos e meio de mandato, gostaria de destacar os principais pontos que marcaram um período de muita luta e avanços.

Como os senhores sabem, em função da pandemia e do atraso do Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol de 2020, que se estendeu até o fim de Janeiro de 2021, assumimos o clube com o futebol em queda livre, profundamente endividado e lamentavelmente deteriorado.

Precisávamos agir rápido.

Provavelmente, a maioria dos senhores não faça ideia do estado deplorável que se encontrava o clube quando tomamos posse.

Diante das tantas urgências, priorizamos duas que julgávamos mais importantes: a estruturação do futebol, visando o retorno à série A, e o início imediato de uma estruturação organizacional que tornasse possível ao clube um novo ciclo de realizações e conquistas.

Como dissemos, assumimos a gestão com o futebol lamentavelmente desestruturado e praticamente rebaixado, rumo ao pesadelo de mais uma queda para a segunda divisão.

Já naquele momento, decidimos assumir o controle do processo, mesmo que não tivéssemos nenhuma relação com o histórico do time e cientes dos enormes desafios que enfrentaríamos.

Consumado mais um triste rebaixamento, arregaçamos as mangas e partimos para a luta.

O primeiro ato indispensável do nosso plano para o futebol, naturalmente, era voltar à primeira divisão, e foi exatamente isso que fizemos. Retornamos como campeões, dando ainda mais força a essa conquista.

É preciso ressaltar, entretanto que, paralelamente a esse grande esforço, colocamos em curso uma dinâmica sofisticada: estruturar organizacionalmente o clube, preparando-o para vôos mais altos.

Já nos primeiros momentos de nossa gestão, asseguramos que os processos organizacionais e administrativos começassem a avançar. Antes do nosso mandato, tinha sido aprovado previamente, junto ao nosso Conselho Deliberativo, o projeto que denominamos de Botafogo S.A., e tínhamos consciência de que o desafio de sobreviver ao caos financeiro encontrado e buscar um ciclo vitorioso e sustentável para o futebol, passava necessariamente pela constituição da Sociedade Anônima do Futebol.

Com metas estabelecidas e ajustes em andamento, conhecemos John Textor, com sua sólida experiência, além de seus propósitos claros e impactantes. Assim, avançamos nas negociações, dando um salto rumo ao pioneirismo, constituindo a primeira SAF do Brasil.

‘Wadhera a winner who wants to be in the tough situations’

None of this seemed to make any impact on Shreyas Iyer, though. After a few years away, Chelsea are finally back in Champions League action tonight.

It won’t be an easy reintroduction to Europe’s premier competition, though, as Enzo Maresca’s Conference League winners will be taking on Bayern Munich.

The German champions are stacked with incredible players in every position, but the one the Blues have to be most wary of is undoubtedly Harry Kane.

The England captain has the ability to take games away from teams, although Chelsea have a superstar of their own, someone who could well outshine Kane.

Despite both Bayern and Chelsea being two of the biggest clubs in European football and consistently competing for the top prizes in recent decades, they’ve only played one another in five competitive games.

The first was back in the 2004/05 season, in which the Baverians travelled to West London for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, a game the hosts won 4-2, which was then followed by a 3-2 win for the German giants in the second leg.

However, the most famous meeting between the two institutions came just over 13 years ago, when Roberto Di Matteo’s side managed to beat the odds and claim their first Champions League title by beating Jupp Heynckes’ men 4-3 on penalties.

It was in that game that Didier Drogba scored his most famous goal for the Blues, and Petr Čech played a crucial role by saving a penalty from Arjen Robben in extra time.

Unfortunately, FC Hollywood have had the upper hand in the two games since that incredible final.

They demolished Frank Lampard’s side 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their round-of-16 clash in February 2020, and then completed the job with a 4-1 win when the competition resumed that August after the first lockdown.

In all, while Bayern have won most of their encounters, Chelsea fans wouldn’t swap their records thanks to that famous night in Munich. Although with that said, Maresca will be looking to improve that record tonight, and so long as he starts the player who could upstage Kane, then there is every chance he will.

The likes of Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernández could get into most top teams around Europe, but without a doubt, the Blues’ best player is Cole Palmer.

The former Manchester City gem is the definition of a game-changer, and should he be on song against Bayern, there is every chance he could outshine Kane.

While the England captain is that bit more prolific a goalscorer, almost everything good the West Londoners do goes through their dazzling number ten, so much so that GOAL’s Sean Walsh once suggested that he is “Lampard, Drogba & Hazard all in one”, combining the best attributes of three Stamford Bridge legends.

Rather unsurprising, Chelsea’s fortunes changed for the better when he came on at the weekend, entering the fray on Saturday in the 56th minute and just five minutes later scoring the equalising goal for his side.

It was hardly a surprise, though, as in 99 appearances for the Pensioners, totalling 7984 minutes, the “generational talent,” as dubbed by journalist Scott Bradley, has scored 44 goals and provided 29 assists.

In other words, the 23-year-old has maintained an average of a goal involvement every 1.35 games, or every 109.36 minutes, which is frankly absurd.

Moreover, he proved himself to be a big-game player at the Club World Cup, scoring two goals in the final against a heavily favoured Paris Saint-Germain.

Ultimately, while Bayern will be the favourites, Chelsea have every chance of coming away with all three points tomorrow night, especially if Palmer starts and is on song.

Já a volta, em que o Time do Povo reverteu o placar, foi acompanhada por Gabriel na concentração com a equipe da base corintiana.

– Nos dois jogos contra o Remo eu estava em casa, com a minha família. Eu nem tinha sido chamado muito para treinar com o profissional este ano, estava com a cabeça no sub-20, Campeonato Paulista. Assisti em casa, torcendo muito. Teve uma situação ruim no primeiro jogo, mas no segundo eu torci muito. No Atlético, eu estava na Suíça, disputando um campeonato com o sub-20, e fiquei sabendo do resultado só depois. Mas no segundo jogo eu estava na concentração assistindo, e foi uma emoção incrível. E nem passava pela minha cabeça que na fase seguinte eu iria jogar as duas partidas como titular. Sensação incrível, essa torcida que está sempre do nosso lado, é uma tarde/noite que eu vou levar para o resto da minha vida – destacou o jovem na zona mista após a classificação na Copa do Brasil.

Gabriel Moscardo tem vínculo com o Corinthians até setembro do próximo ano. Isso significa que ele poderá assinar pré-contrato com qualquer outro time a partir de março de 2024. O Timão tenta não correr riscos e ofereceu um novo acordo, com valorização salarial e aumento na multa rescisória. A validade seria até setembro de 2027. As partes estão muito avançadas no acerto. No entanto, o volante preferiu minimizar o tema.

– Venho me destacando, a torcida pedindo, mas estou preocupado com o meu futebol e as coisas vão acontecer naturalmente. A gente conversou, mas minha cabeça está focada no futebol, porque se eu não corresponder em campo as coisas não vão acontecer. Estou focado em voltar ao trabalho, entrar em campo de novo e corresponder nos treinos – disse o meio-campista.

No momento, como está de férias, Moscardo avalia a continuidade, ou não, da faculdade. Ele mora perto do campus onde estuda no período noturno. Porém, se a renovação for confirmada, a tendência é que o congelamento da matrícula aconteça.

Além do curso de administração, escolhido por ser a mesma profissão que a mãe de Gabriel Moscardo exerce atualmente, o volante também faz curso de inglês.
